Child Custody & Visitation:

Like all child custody laws, Georgia has its own unique set of regulations that judges follow when awarding custody. These fathers want to legitimate their children, gain the status of legal parent and have the ability to request custody or visitation rights.

 

Many fathers are shocked to learn that even though they are listed on the birth certificate, paternity has been established by the mother, and they are already paying child support, they actually have few legal rights in regards to their child.

 

Without legitimating, the father might be required to pay child support, but unable to be involved in the child’s life.
